The People of Fitzrovia

To celebrate the charm of Fitzrovia and everything The Newman has to offer, we took a stroll around the neighbourhood to capture its unique spirit and vibrant characters.

Trevor and Ray’s story began in Fitzrovia, where they met and later married. Though they now call the south coast home, they often return to the neighbourhood that holds so many memories.

Meet Chris, spotted sitting on the steps outside his flat with a guitar he’d just bought for his little sister. Music and faith have become his way of staying grounded and focused on what matters most—his family.

Originally from Swansea, Ronald shared in his rich Welsh accent how life brought him to Fitzrovia. After moving to London for work, facing homelessness, and rebuilding through a construction job, he’s now found a place to call home in the neighbourhood.

Say hi to Ryugo, a talented fashion designer juggling studies in Fitzrovia with working at a Japanese restaurant. Creativity and hard work all in a day’s life.

Meet Joss, a local who enjoys daily strolls around Fitzrovia with his adorable pup and his photographer girlfriend. His love for the neighbourhood shines through in every walk.

This is Marsha, never seen without a hat. As she puts it, “it finishes off an outfit!” Having spent most of her life in Fitzrovia, she loves the area’s vibrant energy and creative spirit.

Meet Alan, a talented photographer and a true Fitzrovian at heart. He’s been a resident of the iconic TJ Boulting building for decades and is a familiar face in the area. Every day, he pops out for his paper, a local legend in his own right.

Satori is a Japanese Buddhist name meaning “Enlightened”. She is a coffee shop manager in Fitzrovia and enjoys being part of the local community, welcoming both familiar faces and new visitors to the shop.

Meet Maureen, the owner of Taylors Buttons, the only independent button shop in the West End. It is more than 100 years old and is located in a house where Charles Dickens lived twice during his lifetime.
